Mr Michael Long
Profile
Michael graduated from the Nanyang Technological University with a BA with Diploma in Education in 1998. He was awarded the Distinguished Fulbright Award in Teaching in 2011. He had been teaching English, Math, Science and Art at the Upper Primary level. He headed the Science Department in a primary school and progressed to be a Vice-Principal before switching to the Teaching Track in 2007. Prior to joining AST, Michael was a Lead Teacher, helming the school’s Lesson Study journey. He enjoyed engaging the lower progress learners and explored ways to motivate them to learn. Within and beyond school, he supported teachers in their professional learning.
Professional Involvement and Contributions
Presented ‘Tapping on teachers’ knowledge bases of teaching in a learner-centric learning environment’ at the Distinguished Fulbright Award in Teaching programme in 2011.
