Mdm Pang Yen Ping
Profile
Yen Ping graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1996 with a BSc in Mathematics and Economics and completed her Master of Teaching in 2016. With 20 years of experience teaching mathematics from Secondary 1 – 4/5 levels across all streams, she has also served in various capacities such as Year Coach and Level Head (Mathematics). Prior to her appointment as a Master Teacher/Mathematics in 2018, she has been a Lead Teacher for 7 years. As a Lead Teacher, Yen Ping was the key driver of the school’s staff professional development and mentoring programmes. She was a cluster mentor in the ICAN (Improving Confidence and Achievement in Numeracy) project and was an active member of several professional and networked learning communities both within and beyond her school. She was also invited to conduct sharings and workshops at cluster, zonal and national platforms on pedagogy, assessment and good teaching practices. For her significant contribution to the professional development of teachers in the fraternity, Yen Ping was conferred the Associate of Academy of Singapore Teachers in 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017. She was a recipient of the Fellow of Academy of Singapore Teachers 2016. With her passion in mathematics, Yen Ping seeks to promote quality teaching to help students appreciate the beauty of mathematics. Her research interests include motivation, constructivist pedagogy, problem solving, mathematical reasoning and communication.
