Mdm Yong Song Ling

Profile

Song Ling graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1991 with a BSc in Chemistry and Economics. She joined the teaching service in 1994 after obtaining her PGDE and progressed to become Head of Department in 2004 before switching track to Lead Teacher in 2018. In her 25 years of teaching in a primary school, she enjoyed working with students of diverse profiles, creating learning experiences to develop scientific thinking and practices. In 2016, she received the Outstanding Science Teacher Award for her passion in making Science interesting and relevant to her students. Whether as Head of Department or Lead Teacher, she actively promoted collaborations amongst teachers in exploring different pedagogical practices in their classes. In recognition of her contribution to the professional development of the primary science teaching fraternity, Song Ling was conferred the Associate of Academy of Singapore Teachers in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
